UK Race Mark Slater signed with Fanatic and won his first race on the 14' flatwater board this weekend at the Aquasports Frostbite Race.

What else do we know about Mark? He is a great guy. He represented Great Britain at the ISA World Champs in Peru in February, he won the BaySUP Frostbite Race on January 28th in cold and windy conditions. He was 3rd on day 1 of the London Indoor Sprint Race 2012. He paddled the river Thames from Source to Sea (215 Miles) for charity.

But let's hear from himself….

Congratulations Mark on winning the Aquasports Frostbite Race and signing with Fanatic! For those who don't know you, tell us a bit about yourself!

Hi and thank you, a bit about myself ok…. I am based on the South Coast of England where reasonable waves are not a regular occurrence so I tend to have concentrated more on the racing & distance elements of SUPing

What were the reasons for switching from Starboard to Fanatic?
Ummm good question, Starboard do have some great boards but a chance became available to move over to the Fanatic/ION camp and it just felt the right move to make….Fanatic and ION have some fantastic boards and products out right now and are really pushing forward and just getting better & better. The 14' Flatwater is a really fine board….
What are your plans for the year ahead?
I am still planning to compete in some of the main UK events and possibly a few European ones if time & funds allow…I am also planning to do some endurance challenges.
Thanks, and good luck for that!
