Liguria is a narrow strip of land that is bordered by the sea, the Alps and the Apennines mountains. It is a popular region with tourists for its beautiful beaches, picturesque little towns and spectacular cliffs.

It is also perfect for SUP! The weather is great, the food fantastic and the Italian hospitality is legendary.

Here are some impressions from Annabel’s trip down there.

If you are ever in the area, make sure to stop by and say hello to Luigi Reghitto and his Andrenaline SUP crew! This is their website: http://www.adrenalinasportgenova.it/

His shop is located in Genoa, the capital, one of the most important Mediterranean ports and home of the great navigator Christopher Columbus who discovered America – it was already a powerful maritime city in the Middle Ages.  Evidence of this glorious past is still evident today in impressive buildings, mansions and magnificent churches that are perfectly intertwined with the modern urban scene.

Beautiful for SUP is also the area around Bergeggi, where the King oft he Island Race took place in June 2011. In 1985, the Nature Reserve Bergeggi was established – it includes the Isle of Bergeggi and the opposite coast of the Riviera di Ponente.

Even in lesser-known back country, there is much to discover. Two thirds o fit consist of mountains with heights of over a thousand meters. Here, hidden in a small area between the mountains and the coast is a wealth of natural and cultural treasures waiting to be explored, so be sure you bring enough time to see that as well!
