In summer, we call this tour “Bavarian Amazonas”. We have been thinking about paddling it at full moon for quite some time, and this weekend the forecast looked OK. Not good, it was overcast, but there was 85% chance of seeing the moon between 20.00 and 24.00. So Petra (sup-guide.com) and Etienne (Munich Stand Up Paddling) decided to give it a try.

London has many beautiful sights and landmarks to offer, but seeing even a couple of them on one day can be very stressful. So imagine paddling past the House of Parliament, the London Eye, the City, London Bridge etc. all by yourself in total quietness on a SUP.
Glaring city lights, a scary bridge underpass, a waterfall, a fairy-tale like Hänsel and Gretel house or nightpaddling on Munich’s Canal.
The canal at the south end of Munich is the ideal place for a quick evening paddle. There are parking spaces only 15m from the water, the artificial edge of the canal is very low, so it’s easy to get in and out. The distance you can paddle until you hit a hydro-electric power plant is short, only about 3km, but the current is reasonable strong, so if you have paddled that back and forth twice, you have had a good workout.
Starboard Team Rider Annabel Anderson had met the Munich SUP crew in Hamburg at the Jever World Cup where she finished 2nd. She had stayed in touch with Petra, who also paddels on the canal in London and had seen some photos from the scenic tours through Bavaria. So one early Saturday morning in December, she headed south for some more paddling adventures.
